In 2018, we embarked on a mission to unlock the potential of young individuals. Witnessing the struggles of youth being held back by circumstances, we knew we had to act. Our vision was to create a platform that would provide opportunities for growth, learning, and development, bridging the gap between local and international youth. With a strong belief in the potential of young people, we founded our institution to create a supportive environment where they could thrive. Through our programs and initiatives, we aim to foster a sense of community, ignite passion, and nurture future leaders who will shape a brighter tomorrow.
We believe that every child deserves a loving and supportive environment to thrive. Unfortunately, many orphans around the world are denied this basic right. That’s why we focus on helping orphans, providing them with access to education, healthcare, and emotional support. By giving them a chance to grow and develop in a safe and nurturing environment, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and disadvantage, and empower them to reach their full potential.
Yemen — The war in Yemen began in 2015 and has caused immense humanitarian suffering. According to UNICEF, over 12 million children have been affected, with over 1.5 million internally displaced. Due to the conflict, poverty, and disease, it’s estimated that there are over 1.2 million orphans in Yemen. The war has also led to widespread destruction of infrastructure, leaving many without access to basic necessities like food, water, and healthcare. Efforts to establish peace and address humanitarian needs continue.
Alkawthar and Pure Hands collaborating to support Yemen’s orphans will undoubtedly bring hope and relief to those in need. Their combined efforts will help provide essential care, education, and a brighter future for these children.
Afghanistan — Afghanistan is home to approximately 2 million resilient and brave orphans, who despite facing immense challenges, continue to shine with hope and potential. With support from organizations and kind-hearted individuals, these young ones can access education, care, and a nurturing environment, helping them grow into strong and compassionate leaders of the future. Together, we can make a difference in their lives and create a brighter tomorrow for Afghanistan.
Morocco — The Moroccan earthquake of 2023, also known as the Oukaïmedene earthquake or Marrakech-Safi earthquake, occurred on September 8, 2023 ¹. It was a 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck near the town of Oukaïmedene in western Morocco, killing over 2,900 people and injuring 5,500 ¹. The earthquake damaged parts of Marrakech and devastated several remote settlements in the Atlas Mountains ¹.
According to UNICEF, an estimated 1,200 children were orphaned as a result of the earthquake in Morocco. These children have lost one or both parents and are now in need of care and support.
Alkawthar sent aid through their contact for children and families during that tragic moment.
Alkawthar has sponsored over 500 orphans meals for these children during the month of Ramadan.
